How we review

Every product is used the way a customer would use it: we sign up, fund it, use it and take the money back out.

The test

  1. Open an account or set up the device, including identity checks where the product requires them.
  2. Deposit, then trade, swap, sign or import real history, depending on the product.
  3. Withdraw to a wallet we control and time how long it takes to arrive.
  4. Read the fee schedule, the terms and the licensing record, and compare them with what we were charged.

What the score weighs

The score out of 10 reflects, in this order: what it costs you, who holds the keys, whether the company is licensed where it operates and how it has handled past incidents, how quickly and reliably money comes back out, and only then features and design. A product can lose points for any single serious failure, however good the rest is.

Wallets and tools

Hardware and software wallets are judged on key custody, recovery, supported chains and how clearly they show what you are signing. Tax software is judged on import coverage, the accuracy of the report against our own records, and price per tax year. Research tools are judged on data coverage, speed and what the free tier leaves out.

Keeping reviews current

Fees and licences change. When they do, we retest, update the review and its score, and show the new date. A correction note records anything we got wrong.

Not advice

A review tells you how a product behaved for us. It is not personal financial, tax or investment advice. Read the terms for the full wording.
